How to Install ATV Snow Plow Blades on a Yamaha

Yamaha all-terrain vehicles (ATV) are personal vehicles capable of being driven on nearly all terrains, such as grass, mud, shallow waters and snow. Snow plow kits are equipped to ATVs to transform them into mini-plowing machines which are great for large yards and farmland. Purchase a snow plow kit and equip it to your Yamaha ATV to begin clearing away the snow as you ride.
Put on your safety goggles and drill the factory marked locations on the rubber cutting edge using your drill and the recommended size of drill bit, which is found in your snow plow's installation manual.
Mount the skid bracket to the rubber cutting edge, using the holes you just drilled as a guide. Insert the bolts in the correct direction (consult your owner's manual) and insert the following parts onto the bolts on the other side of the rubber cutting edge in this order: skid bracket, flat washer, lock washer, nut. These parts are supplied with your snow plow. Tighten the bolts using the appropriate size socket wrench.
Align the groove on the rubber plate with the groove in the rubber cutting edge with the skid brackets facing the back of the blade. Slide the rubber plate onto the rubber cutting edge, making sure that their edges are flush with one another.
Mount the side hinges onto the back of the rubber cutting blade. Align the holes in the hinges with the factory holes on the back of the blade and secure them to the blade with the appropriate bolts, nuts and washers supplied with your snow plow.
Secure the bottom of each hinge by inserting the appropriate bolts, washers and nuts which are supplied with your snow plow. Some snow plow models require you to drill holes, while others have factory holes already drilled for you. Consult your owner's manual for drilling specifications, including drill bit size and how deep you should drill your holes.
Insert the interceptor, which is the base of the plow's arm, into the plow mount, which is a U-shaped mount that attaches to the plow blade. Align the holes in the interceptor with the holes in the plow mount. Insert the appropriate bolts into the holes, along with the required nuts and washers. Tighten the bolts using the appropriate size socket wrench.
Attach the plow mount to the rubber cutting blade to complete your plow. Each plow is uniquely designed and mounts in a different way. Consult your plow's owner's manual for mounting instructions. Follow the mounting instructions precisely, being sure to use the correct bolts in the correct locations. Some plows utilize tether cords. Attach tether cords to the appropriate keyhole pins. Consult your owner's manual for directions on your specific snow plow model.
Jack up the front end of your Yamaha ATV, giving yourself enough room to attach the plow to the underside of the body.
Mount the plow to the underside of your ATV by following the manufacturer's instructions. Some plows have clamps, while others require direct mounting via bolts. Never clamp or attach your plow to your axle and never attach your plow to any parts of your ATV that can not support the weight of the plow. Consult your plow's owner's manual for weight specifications and consult your ATV's owner's manual for load bearing specifications.
