Yamaha all terrain vehicle (ATV) snow plows use a Warn-brand winch kit to lower and raise the snow plow blade. Installing a winch kit and plow mounts is an elaborate job, but once that hardware is set up, mounting the snow blade on the Yamaha ATV is a relatively simple task. The important thing to remember is that the winch cable shouldn't pass through the fairlead--the roller that the cable would pass through if the winch were being used in its general capacity.
Set the plow carrier and blade on level ground and slowly drive up to the carrier. Align the receiving flanges on the plow mount with the receivers on the carrier. Stop when the carrier fully engages the plow mount.
Switch the ATV off, set the parking brake, and verify the engagement. You may have to wiggle things a bit to get the receivers in the flanges fully.
Pull the detente pin out on one of the legs and lift the leg until it locks. Place the detente pin in the bottom hole. Repeat on the other side.
Route the winch cable and hook it over the middle roller. It should come out of the bottom of the drum and not pass through the fairlead.
Attach the winch hook to the link on the plow base. You may want to take a look at the installation guide for the exact location.
Turn the ATV on and test the winch. It should raise and lower the blade.
